NEXT AVAILABLE TOUR DATE: OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2020
Day 1 - CAPE TOWN
Arrive early morning in Cape Town. Airport transfer to Protea Breakwater Hotel at the Victoria and
Alfred Waterfront. There are many pubs, restaurants etc. within a few minutes’ walk of the Hotel.
We collect the bikes, complete all paperwork and spend the afternoon relaxing until dinner and our
pre tour briefing.
Day 2 - MALGAS
After a hearty breakfast we load up and head for Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa. We
travel via the magnificent Sir Lowry’s Pass and Hermanus, well known whale watching area. After
lunch we head to Malgas for an overnight at the Malgas Hotel.
Day 3 - GEORGE
Early start via a man-hauled pontoon cable ferry across the Breede River, which is the last of its type
in South Africa. We will do some “taster” off road riding via Riversdale ending up in George for a 2
night stop over at the fabulous King George Protea Hotel.
Day 4 - GEORGE
We head out for the first real off road challenge to Calitzdorp, the home of Port in South Africa. We

easily transport any supplies bought! After lunch we head back to George via the Outeniqua Pass.
Day 5 - PABALA GAME LODGE
The ride today will be through the magnificent coastal Garden Route area of the Western Cape via
Nature’s Valley and on to the highest bridge bungee jump in the world. Here we will stop for lunch
and either jump or watch those brave enough to do so! After lunch we travel to Pabala Game
Reserve for some late afternoon game viewing. We will stay over in a wonderfully tented camp,
(glamping of note!) next to a waterhole where you can watch some wildlife over sundowners.
Day 6 - BAVIAANSKLOOF
Early start as this section can take quite a while. One of the highlights of the tour, we will traverse
Baviaanskloof. Depending on how wet the Cape winter has been will dictate the level of water
through 8 crossings. It could be very hot. This is a wildlife reserve with lots of antelope, baboons,
Cape Buffalo etc. Normally they shy away from the road and we will stop at several spots along the
way for a breather/pics and to try and spot some game. Welcome respite and lunch at Vero’s Cafe
and onwards to Makkedaat Caves, which a local farmer has transformed into rustic accommodation.
Experience a Karoo night under the stars after enjoying truly South African hospitality at supper
around the braai (BBQ). Bedding in the caves supplied.
Day 7 - OUDTSHOORN
After a hearty South African breakfast we leave Makkedaat caves along dirt back roads to
Oudtshoorn. We will arrive at our 2 night stay at the Buffelsdrift Game Lodge/Stonehouse Chalet
Resort. After lunch we will visit the Cango Caves, returning for a hearty rural African dinner at the

the highlights in the area, from croc cage diving to feeding elephants, or visit the Wildlife Ranch and
see their white tigers.
Day 9 - PRINCE ALBERT via DIE HEL
An early start after breakfast for a great off road experience up Swartberg Pass. At the summit we
turn off to Die Hel. One way in and the same way out. It will be hot and dusty. We will have lunch
at the bottom at the local farmers shop. Return the same route to the summit and then we turn left
and descend into Price Albert. An Afrikaans Karoo town with typical colonial architectural
Day 10 - KNYSNA
Travel through Meirings Poort on a combination tar and dirt to Prince Alfred’s Pass through
indigenous Yellow Wood forests down to Knysna, renowned for its Oysters, for our overnight stop.
Day 11 - CALITZDORP
Mixture of tar and dirt, through the Seven Passes Road, passing an area of the Knysna Forests which
have only a handful surviving Forest Elephants…extremely scarce and there have only been a few
sighting over many years. We traverse the Montague Pass before reaching Oudtshoorn, then on to
Day 12 - WORCESTER
Travel a mix of tar and dirt to the famous Ronnie’s Sex Shop. No worries, it’s not really a sex shop
(it’s a cafe/rest stop) and Ronnie, the owner, will explain how the name came about. After a snack
we take a ride through a white Lion reserve to Worcester, the wine capital of the Hex River Valley
Day 13 - CAPE TOWN
From Worcester via Baines Kloof pass, through Stellenbosch and the coastal road to Kalk Bay for
lunch. The Brass Bell is the smallest pub in South Africa with standing room for only 8 people. A visit
